Solar Observing Workshop

All NLO members are warmly invited to a Solar Observing Workshop on Friday 19th July at the NLO, starting 7.30pm

Whether or not you have ever tried observing the Sun before, or you need some advice to get started or to progress, or you are experienced and are willing to share some of what you have learnt… then this evening is for you!

Please note there are no formal talks scheduled for the evening but there will be a strong emphasis on ensuring any observing of the Sun is carried out safely!

We will have some telescopes set up outdoors for observing the Sun – or indoors in the new Jeanne Edyvean Centre (JEC) if rain is likely. Any members with portable telescopes are very welcome to bring them but for safety reasons, please do not point them at the Sun or leave them unattended if they are not already suitably equipped to safely observe the Sun.

The main aim of the workshop is for members to have fun and chat informally about Solar Observing equipment; how to choose what’s best for you, how to use it safely and how to get the most out of it.

If you have any other questions about the evening then please contact Alan Smith ( mr.alanjsmith@yahoo.co.uk ) or Mark Stephens ( marklstephens@btinternet.com ).
