Child Protection/Safeguarding Principles

The Norman Lockyer Observatory Society is fully committed to protecting children.

Whenever there is contact between the Norman Lockyer Observatory Society and with children the society recognises that a child’s welfare is paramount in all circumstances.

In fulfilling our obligations in respect to Child Protection/Safeguarding, the Norman Lockyer Observatory Society adopts the Federation of Astronomical Societies Guidelines on Child Protection.

The Norman Lockyer Observatory Society will make this policy statement and the Federation of Astronomical Societies Child Protection Guidelines available to all members.

Responsibilities

Within the Norman Lockyer Observatory Society the responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Federation of Astronomical Societies Child Protection Guidelines lays with Alex Rowe, a director of the society.

The secondary, or back up person responsible for Child Protection/Safeguarding in the Norman Lockyer Observatory Society is Des Howlett, a director of the society.
