The video below shows a timelapse from the EUMETSAT Meteosat second generation services. The images are taken from a geostationary satellite which images the Earth every 15 minutes, and we are using the data from the high resolution visible light channel. This allows the detection of cloud structures as well as fog & mist. It also shows coastlines, as well as some land features such as mountains, valleys and snow cover. As the data uses visible light rather than infra-red the timelapse shows the day/night cycle and the image is not visible at night.
