Cosmology Group

The New NLO Cosmology Group

Is designed to inform, enthuse and enlighten anyone with an interest in Cosmology and hopefully the meetings will stimulate much discussion and questions.

This friendly group is open to all levels from beginners to experts and contributions from anyone are welcome.

The first meeting was held on Tuesday 24th September 2019 starting at 7:30pm. Around a dozen people attended. We had a few introductory slides to stimulate a discussion and a lively discussion followed, with many questions, answers and contributions from the assembled group members.

Topics discussed in October were: Age of the Universe – how is it measured? Dark energy and dark matter  – how do we know they exist and how are they quantified?

Future topics of discussion: Einstein and relativity, Black holes, Quantum physics and its relationship to the universe, the nature of Time, and anomalous redshifted galaxies as raised by a US scientist called Halton Arp

Typically meetings will be held each month on the fourth Tuesday at 7:30pm.
